Frequently Asked Questions

Have questions about KUBO, the app, or preorders? You’re in the right place. Here you’ll find answers about our machines, app features, ordering process, and everything you need to get the most out of your Kafmasino experience. If you can’t find what you’re looking for, don’t hesitate to reach out to our support team.

App

Q: For which operating systems is it available?

A: It is available for Android and iOS. The app is ready to run on mobile devices of any size and in any orientation (portrait and landscape).

We’re also working on future compatibility for certain Windows and macOS desktop environments, which will be released later on.

A: Yes, we will be adding new features and improvements to the app with suggestions from users.

A: Yes, from the app you can use the manual mode which allows you to create a recipe in real time by controlling the flow and pressure parameters in real time.

A: Yes, temperature profiling can be done at each step of a recipe. The maximum value is 100°C and the minimum value is 80°C.

Please note that temperature profiling follows a logical limit: depending on the total beverage volume and the recipe structure, the machine can adjust the temperature during the shot, but only within a practical range of approximately 3–5°C, ensuring thermal stability and consistent extraction.

Q: Can I save and recall my recipes in the app?

A: Yes! All your recipes are saved in your device locally or on your online account and can be recalled at any time. Recipes can be synced with your account so you can access them across devices.

A: Yes, the app allows you to import shared recipes. This way you can experiment with new profiles while keeping your own recipes safe.

A: You can store a large number of recipes—enough to cover all your coffee experiments. The exact number depends on the device storage and the app version, but we made sure it’s more than enough for daily use and testing.

A: Some accessories are compatible, like 58mm portafilters, baskets… For Bluetooth scales, we currently support Acaia and are working on integrating Bookoo and other brands. If you want a specific accessory supported, you can let us know via email.

Kafmasino KUBO

A: Kafmasino KUBO has 2 years official warranty included, if you want more information please go to the following Warranty page

A: Currently only available for voltages 220-240V @ 50-60Hz.

If you are located in a 110V region (such as the United States), there are still options to use the machine safely:

  • Many users choose a step-up converter from 110V to 220–240V — these are affordable and widely available.

  • Another option in the U.S. is to use a 240V outlet, which many homes already have for appliances such as dryers. In that case, you may need a suitable NEMA plug adapter.

A: Yes, Kafmasino KUBO will update the firmware of the machine from the app from time to time at no cost to the user. New features and improvements will be added.

A: Yes, from the app you can define the machine’s default recipe that it will use every time it is started.

A: Currently the machine needs to be connected to the internet during the machine registration process and during login.
However, once your account and machine are registered, KUBO includes an offline mode that allows you to use the machine for up to 7 days without reconnecting to the internet.

In the future, our goal is to make internet connectivity unnecessary for normal operation, and required only for accessing online features such as the Community.

A: The machine allows two start-up modes (fast and slow). By selecting the faster mode, the temperature can be reached in less than 3 minutes. If 2-3 flushes are made at a time, a good thermal stability can be achieved during the first shot.

To improve the stability as much as possible, it is recommended to use the machine 10 minutes after start-up and to perform 1 flush before the coffee.

A: The grouphead is attached to the 550ml boiler and is located on top of the group. Both the group and the boiler are made of stainless steel which guarantees safety and high thermal stability.

A: By modulating the voltage supplied to the Kafmasino KUBO pump, the flow rate and pressure can be regulated.

A: The temperature sensor is located in the boiler. During the shot, a thermodynamic fluid mixing model is used which estimates the temperature in the puck taking into account the values of pressure and flow at any given moment.

A: The pressure transducer is located in the boiler.
Once the shot starts, the puck and the boiler are directly connected, meaning the pressure you see is the exact, real pressure being applied to the coffee puck. There is no intermediary chamber or second measurement point — the system reads the true extraction pressure in real time.

A: Kafmasino KUBO uses a physical model that, together with a high-precision flowmeter, allows the machine to measure water volume and flow rate extremely accurately at any moment. This combination ensures highly consistent and repeatable extractions.

A: Please note that Kafmasino KUBO is a continuously evolving product, and we are dedicated to ongoing improvements and daily support. You may encounter occasional bugs, and we would greatly appreciate your feedback to help us resolve them in future updates. If you’re interested in joining us as a tester, we’d be happy to provide you with early test firmware and app versions to help enhance the user experience. If this is a problem for you, please do not buy KUBO.

A: Most of our components are manufactured in China to help us maintain competitive pricing, with some parts sourced from Italy and other European countries. Assembly, testing, packaging, and distribution are all carried out in Spain, Europe.

Steam

A: Yes, the steam system can be switched off from the app to save energy if it is not going to be used normally.

A: No, the internal circuit of the machine has only one pump but thanks to the independent thermoblock it is possible to start using the steam after the coffee shot, without waiting.

A: The steam has 4 different power modes and reaches a maximum temperature of 170ºC and a minimum temperature of 130ºC.

A: No, the internal circuit of the machine has only one pump but thanks to the independent thermoblock it is possible to start using the steam after the coffee shot, without waiting.

A: KUBO’s steam system heats up very quickly. You can typically start steaming milk within 2–3 minutes after turning the machine on.

Scale

A: The scale is accurate to 0.01g and allows a maximum weight of 2kg.

A: We already support Acaia Bluetooth scales, and we are working to integrate Bookoo and other major brands. If you would like us to consider adding a specific scale, please let us know by email.

A: Yes, if the scale is connected and paired with the app at the start of the shot an automatic tare will be performed. Additionally a manual tare can be performed from the app at any time.

A: Currently, only one color is available: matte black.

A: The scale is made from a very hard and durable ABS material, designed to withstand regular use and provide long-lasting performance.

A: Yes, the scale is splash-resistant, so it’s perfectly fine if water or coffee spills on it. However, it should never be fully submerged in water.
